I’m running for the Alta Mar Villas Board because I believe our community can once again be well-maintained, transparent, and organized. My priorities are straightforward: open communication, responsible budgeting, and taking meaningful action on homeowner concerns.

Over the past five years, I have been actively involved in our HOA by consistently attending bi-monthly Board meetings and participating in monthly community meetings with Birva and other homeowners, hosted by Board member Desmond Watkins. Through this involvement, I’ve listened closely to resident concerns, followed Board discussions in detail, and gained a clear understanding of where our processes succeed — and where they fall short.

Maintenance Challenges

Our community has faced long-standing maintenance issues despite rising HOA fees. The 2023 inspection report identified multiple significant concerns with patios and roofs. Nearly two years later, roof repairs largely occurred only after heavy rains and repeated leak complaints.

Other issues — including a broken fountain, damaged fencing, wood rot, unusable gym equipment, and recurring ant problems — continue to affect daily living. These conditions highlight the need for better planning, clearer priorities, and consistent follow-through on basic maintenance.

Governance and Accountability

Strong governance depends on consistency, accountability, and adherence to the law. Unfortunately, our HOA missed the 2022 and 2024 elections despite Civil Code requirements, homeowner interest in running, and repeated reminders to the Board.

Elections are foundational to community trust and transparency. When this responsibility is overlooked, it raises legitimate concerns about overall oversight and management.

Relevant Professional Experience

Professionally, I work as an Executive Program Manager, where I am responsible for planning and delivering complex projects with clear timelines, defined budgets, and regular stakeholder communication. This experience translates directly to HOA governance — prioritizing work, holding vendors accountable, tracking progress, and ensuring commitments turn into completed results.

A Better Path Forward

If elected, I will focus on:

  • Setting realistic timelines and following through

  • Providing consistent and transparent TownSq updates

  • Prioritizing overdue repairs and pest control

  • Ensuring HOA elections are held on time, every year

  • Making sure homeowner dues result in visible, measurable improvements

With focused leadership and accountability, we can restore pride, trust, and momentum in our community.
