As a resident of this community for the past 6 years, I am been mostly a passive observer of HOA & Board. But recent turn of events, since last year has made me deeply invested in the well-being of our neighborhood and am committed to working tirelessly to enhance our living experience. If selected, as a board owner, apart from ensuring the our HOA is well run and in best interest of community, I will like to focus in the area of finance, security, and community engagement
Financial Stewardship: I am committed to ensuring the prudent management of our association's funds, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial decisions. I will like to work us together to maintain a balanced budget, explore cost-saving measures, and plan for future expenses without burdening homeowners with unnecessary fees.
Enhancing Security: As someone with a small kid, safety and security of our community are paramount for me. I will work closely with fellow board to assess and enhance our current measures, ensuring that our neighborhood remains a safe haven for all residents. I will like to explore implementing additional security measures, such as improved lighting and surveillance systems to deter the rampant thefts we have been observing lately.
Fostering Community Spirit: A strong sense of community is the foundation of a thriving neighborhood. One of the things that I have been missing is regular community events. I would like to organize & support regular community events, such as social gatherings, cultural celebrations, and volunteer initiatives, to bring us closer together and create a vibrant, connected community.

Serving our community as a board member has been an honor and privilege. Throughout my years of service, I've encountered many inefficiencies, misappropriated funds, and misconduct among board members. I often find myself standing alone in my convictions, but I truly believe that board members have a fiduciary duty to serve the community's best interests. There's still so much work to be done, and that's why I'm reaching out to you for your support in my re-election.
My main focus as a board member has been to cut costs and increase security and awareness for our community. We can thrive financially by efficiently managing funds, holding our service providers accountable, and ensuring your dues are used effectively. I have personally taken steps to increase security measures and work closely with local law enforcement when needed. More importantly, I have been actively involved in our community by attentively listening to the concerns and suggestions of my neighbors while maintaining an open line of communication with residents.
My plan for the future of Alta Mar Villas includes the formation of committees to give residents a voice in the board's decisions. This consists of a finance committee, a landscape and grounds committee, and a social committee. I believe this collaborative approach will help us make informed decisions and improve the quality of life for all residents.

John Deric Galandines
I am John Deric Galandines, a resident of Alta Mar Villas since November 2006. I've had the privilege of getting to know many of you over the years. I am running for re-election to the Alta Mar HOA Board, a position I've held since the pandemic's onset.
In my view, board members should foster community, maintain our shared spaces, ensure safety, review and enhance policies, and manage HOA fees responsibly. I am committed to these principles and seek your support as your ally and representative, ensuring that your voices are heard and placed at the forefront when making decisions concerning the place we all call home.
About John Deric:
John Deric holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Davis. He currently works as District Social Worker for Alameda County Government. He manages services for over 600 vulnerable citizens, advocating for their safety and well-being. John Deric also has a leadership background as a former Executive Board Member for Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 1021 Alameda Social Services Chapter. Currently, John Deric is completing his final year of the Master of Social Work (Clinical practice) remote program at Boston University with the intention of becoming a psychotherapist in the near future.
